Every embedded Linux kernel based system needs a mounted file system that contains all libraries and applications required. The collection of all the packages is built and stored in a file system format, usually it is called Rootstrap. Rootstrap terminology is used more in embedded system, rather than desktop distros. Rootstarp size can varies according to the number of components it contains, see below pictures for some examples of rootstrap configurations.
We can build optimised rootstraps and distributions according to your needs. Selecting upstream open source software components we can build file system images. Please contact us for more information.
